Support Group

Supporting your LGBTQ+ family
member, friend, or loved one.

Family members and loved ones may have a variety of questions when someone they care about comes out as a part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Joining an LGBTQ+ support group is a valuable step to help understand and support those loved ones.  These groups provide a safe and welcoming environment where families and loved ones can come together to learn, share experiences, and find guidance on how to navigate and strengthen these seemingly new relationships.

Some questions that loved ones may have are:

  • What does it mean to be LGBTQ+?
  • How can I better understand and support my LGBTQ+ loved one?
  • How do I talk to my person about their LGBTQ identity in a respectful and understanding way?
  • How can I learn more about LGBTQ issues and terminology to avoid saying something hurtful?
  • What does it mean to be an ally, and how can I be a better one?
  • How can I connect with others who have LGBTQ+ friends and family members?

West Branch Pride strives to educate, inform, support and engage every member of our community and our allies.

As a part of our mission, we would like to offer a support group to those who have the ambition to better understand and support their LGBTQ+ loved one.

Please let us know in the short survey below if you would be interested in joining this support group or would like more information.
